The ambition of Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate in the April 11 poll, Mr Jimi Agbaje, received a boost yesterday with his endorsement by traditional heads of Ndi Igbo in the 20 local government areas and 37 Local Councils Development Areas, LCDAs, of the state.
At the end of a two-day deliberations on the forth coming gubernatorial election held at the palace of Eze, H.N Ohazulike, the Ezendigbo of Lagos State, the Igbo leaders in a communiqué signed by 15 of its members stated that the meeting “deliberated extensively on matters affecting Ndi Igbo in Lagos State.”
The statement reads: “The meeting also received a visitor in the person of the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Mr Agbaje and his entourage who briefed the meeting on his mission and manifesto.
“The Igbo traditional heads, after exhaustively studying the manifestoes resolved that the interests of Ndi Igbo in Lagos State are better protected under a future Agbaje-led administration and accordingly endorsed him as the candidate of Ndi Igbo in the forth coming elections on behalf of themselves and Igbo people in the state.
The traditional heads in Lagos State urged Ndi Igbo in Lagos to vote for Agbaje.
