FOOTBALL TRANSFER: Juan Mata Could Be On His Way To Madrid

Reigning La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are keen to test Manchester United’s resolve to retain the services of Juan Mata, report the Mirror.

It is alleged that Diego Simeone wants to bring the diminutive Spanish play-maker to Madrid just over a year after David Moyes made him the Red Devils’ record signing.

The 26-year old has found things difficult at Old Trafford, enduring a stop-start finish to his life with the English giants. He appears to have slipped down the pecking order under Louis Van Gaal too, not starting in the Premier League since he was hauled off at half-time during the game with QPR at Loftus Road.
Within the framework of United’s larger difficulties with adopting a workable system under Van Gaal, the Dutch boss has admitted that the ex-Chelsea man is struggling to stamp his authority on the side.

Spain midfielder Koke could be used as part of a deal to take Mata to Atletico, MirrorFootball believe, with United known to be long-term admirers of he youngster.
