Why Jonathan Deserves Re-election, By Gboyega Isiaka [MUST READ]

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has given reasons why President Goodluck Jonathan deserves another term in office.
He said Jonathan has performed well in the area of infrastructure, transportation and agriculture, especially in simplification of fertilizer distribution in the country.

Isiaka made his position known yesterday just as an Ijaw interest group under the aegis of Izon-Ibe Global Policy Network (IGPN), said it was ready to mobilise over five million youths from the Niger Delta region to carry on the gospel of change and ensure that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, is voted into office.

Isiaka who spoke Tuesday at Imeko, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the state during his campaign tour to the area said, “The Lagos-Ibadan expressway is a testimony that President Jonathan is working.”

Speaking further, he said “the road has been bad for generations before this President. Nobody did anything about it until President Jonathan awarded the contract and today, the road is wearing a new look.

“There is serious transformation also in the area of transportation. Before this administration, railway was dead. There is serious work going on in the sector now and our trains are back and better.

“We all remember what our farmers were subjected to get fertilizer. Today with the ongoing reform in agriculture, more farmers now get their fertilizers directly without problems of the middlemen,” Isiaka explained.

He therefore appealed to the peaople of the state to vote for the PDP for better dividends of democracy.
However, in his address, Chairman, Mobilisation and Organisation Committee in the South-west, Buruji Kashamu, told the party faithful that it was the turn of the people of Ogun West to queue behind Isiaka, their son, for the area to produce number one citizens of the state.

However, speaking during a solidarity visit to the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, the spokesman of the Izon-Ibe Global Policy Network group, Ayubalayefa Dennis, described Buhari as a trusted bridge-builder between the rich and poor.

He lamented that the amnesty programme put in place for youths of the Niger Delta has been badly managed by the President Jonathan administration, who has politicised the programme.

“Having assiduously and painstakingly canvassed through the creeks and lands of the Niger Delta region, which happen to be our immediate constituency with the gospel of change, which simultaneously is the slogan of IGPN, we have been able to raise a membership base of more than five million youths in total support of our presidential candidate, Buhari who we know and trust will bridge the gap between the rich and poor, that will eradicate corruption in all ramifications,”

While addressing the group, Chief Oyegun, who commended them it for the courage to come out openly and support the APC, also said, “It is not easy to find particularly young men of Ijaw extraction who are ready to stick out their necks and say their own brother has failed them.

He said anyone would have knelt down to thank God for his blessings, adding that the people of the South-south would have rejoiced and referred him for leaving a solid legacy of creditable performances in the last six years.

“I must say that the President has been someone who has been blessed by God ever since his days as the Deputy Governor up to the present time that he is the President.

“What is most worrisome is that not only do we think that there has not been phenomenal strides but some how the country is about being plunged into one of the worst crisis in the annals of the country.

“As of today, we do not know whether the election will hold or not. Added to this, the country is divided along ethnic, religious lines, corruption and insecurity is today being driven to extremities,” he said.

The National Secretary, Mai Bala Buni said the PDP is seriously in disarray at the moment with most of its key leaders deserting the party. He urged the people and youths of the Niger Delta to support the change that is about to happen in the country by joining the APC
